Lizzo Wants To 'Take It To The Streets' For Ron Burgundy Flute Showdown

Lizzo knows a thing or two about playing the flute, so it was only a matter of time before America's Next Top Bop Star pointed her competitive aim at Ron Burgundy and his skills with the instrument ahead of iHeartRadio and Funny or Die's upcoming "Ron Burgundy Podcast" launch.

On Wednesday (January 9), Burgundy took to Twitter to accept the star's challenge over flute skills. ".@LIZZO CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! YOU WANT ME? YOU GOT ME," he captioned a video of him showing off his own skills with the instrument. Unsurprisingly, Lizzo was all too ready for his rebuttal. "OH ITS ON LIKE HOT BUTTA ON POPCORN, BURGUNDY," she replied. "LETS TAKE IT TO THE STREETS 😤"

Vogue recently rounded up their list of their most-excited pop culture events of 2019 and it's a threshold of early-2000s nostalgia, with the "Burgundy Podcast" smack dab in the middle of the list. "Ron Burgundy of Anchorman is coming to the airwaves via Funny or Die and we can't wait," the outlet wrote. "In a climate in which media is constantly under attack, we need as many voices of reason as we can get." Among the other notable items featured on the list include Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club, a new studio album by Carly Rae Jepsen, and, of course, the upcoming reboot of The Hills.

"Listen, I don't know what a podcast is, but I currently have a lot of time on my hands and a lot to talk about. I am also broke. Therefore, I am very excited to do this podcast. It is literally saving my life," Ron Burgundy previously said in a statement. "By the way, if iHeartRadio says that I harassed them into making a podcast, it is a lie! A boldface lie! Did I call them one hundred times in one day? Yes! But that's called persistence! I have filed suit against iHeartRadio for these salacious claims. I will be representing myself legally, since I currently do not have enough money to hire an attorney."
