The fourth-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team continued its early season scoring barrage with five first half goals en route to an 8-2 victory over 20th-ranked Barry Monday afternoon. The neutral site match took place at the ERAU Soccer Stadium in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Junior Kimmy May and sophomore Kimmy Edgeworth each had a pair of goals for the Lady Cougars while Maddy Peterson and Parker Morgan each added one of their own. Freshman Brenna Harrison tallied her first collegiate goal as well in the 27thminute. CSU benefited from a Barry own goal in the second half.

Columbus State (2-0) was up 2-0 before the fifth minute as May and Peterson got the scoring started. CSU continued to attack as Harrison fired a rocket into the top left corner to add to the first half lead. Harrison was at it again a few minutes later setting up Edgeworth with a through ball to make it 4-0 CSU.

Right before the half, Morgan got into the action with her first goal of the season. Edgeworth grabbed the assist for her third point of the half.

The Lady Cougars once again came out attacking to open the final 45-minutes of play. Just three minutes in, May took a pass from senior Flo Spano and delivered her third goal on the young season.

Barry was able to score two goals, one coming off a penalty kick, before the Lady Cougar offense ramped up again. Thanks to a dangerous corner from Tehgan Anguilm, a Barry defender headed an own goal into the back of the net at the 65 minute mark.

Capping off the scoring for the day was Edgeworth, sliding one by the keeper in the 82ndminute for her second goal.

Bria Riancho played 69 minutes in net to earn the victory making two saves. Freshman Lizzie Hedrick saw her first collegiate action making a save on her lone shot attempt.

Columbus State will return to action on Friday, Sept. 13 hosting the annual CSU Collegiate Invitational at the Walden Soccer Complex. The Lady Cougars will take on Tampa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday before closing out the seven-match invitational with a contest against West Alabama on Sunday at 3 p.m.
