Prince Harry Cried Discussing Meghan Markle's Pregnancy During Speech

The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Attend WellChild Awards

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped out on Tuesday evening (October 16) to attend The WellChild Awards. The ceremony honors gravely ill children and their caregivers for their inspiring charity work. Though the Duke of Sussex has been a patron of WellChild since 2007, this year's event was particularly emotional for him because it's the first one he's attended since welcoming his first child.

During his speech at the WellChild Awards, Prince Harry became visibly emotional discussing Meghan's pregnancy. The Duke had to put his head down and collect himself before continuing. “Last year, when my wife and I attended, we knew we were expecting our first child — no one else did at the time, but we did — and I remember…” Prince Harry said, trailing off as tears swelled in his eyes.

“I remember squeezing Meghan’s hand so tight during the awards, both of us thinking what it would be like to be parents one day,” he continued. “And more so, what it would be like to do everything we could to protect and help our child should they be born with immediate challenges or become unwell over time.”

“And now, as parents, being here and speaking to all of you pulls at my heartstrings in a way I could have never understood until I had a child of my own,” Prince Harry said.

Following his speech, Harry and Meghan spoke to some of the guests about how 5-month-old Archie is doing. Meghan shared Archie recently attended his first play group recently, which his mom said "he loved." They also revealed theyre' starting to see some red hair in Archie's eyebrows. So cute!
