Upsetting 'Frozen' Fan Theory Is 'Ruining The Film' For Some Fans

A new theory about Kristoff and Sven from the beloved Disney film Frozen has left some fans quite upset. The dark fan theory, which was shared on Reddit, will have you reconsidering the close bond Kristoff shares with his reindeer pal. Frozen fans: read on at your own risk.

While the first Frozen film reveals the seemingly sweet backstory of Kristoff and Sven's friendship—the pair met when they were a toddler and calf, respectively—one Reddit user couldn't help but wonder what happened to Sven's mother. After taking stock of Kristoff's fur coat, the Redditor came up with a pretty convincing theory.

"I'm probably slow but have only just noticed that in Frozen, Kristoff's coat is made from fur. And if you look closer at the pics the fur part seems to be reindeer. I don't think it can be wolf cos the pelt is too big," the Reddit user wrote. "That makes it a bit awkward, though, that Kristoff's best friend is a reindeer and he's actually wearing his skin. But in the context of the story, it all fits together."

"The ice harvesters must have killed Sven's mother, leaving a baby Sven for Kristoff to look after, and giving him the pelt to wear," the theory continues. "This explains why Sven is so close to Kristoff too, and why Kristoff still wears the same pelt. The smell reminds Sven of his mum."

Those well versed in Disney films know that parents–particularly of animal characters—often don't fare too well. Bambi, anyone? And let's not forget what happened to Mufasa in The Lion King, either.

Some fans replied to the post saying this theory is ruining the film for them. "I can’t believe this theory. I mean, it’s obviously a reindeer pelt but not Sven’s mum. That’s too dark. Even for Disney!" one fan added.

What do you think about this dark fan theory?
