Former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson is reportedly facing warrants for his arrest after failing to appear in court in relation to two separate child support cases, USA TODAY reports.

Warrants against Peterson, 39, were issued in Fort Bend County, Texas, which claimed he was also facing property seizures in order to pay debts of more than $12 million.

โ€œThe current legal case is related to a misunderstanding regarding Adrianโ€™s court appearances as it relates to child support, and he isย actively working with his legal team to resolve this matter as quickly as possible,โ€ said Denise White, Peterson's publicist, in a statement obtained by USA TODAY. โ€œHe is committed to clearing up this situation and moving forward positively.โ€

The county issued capias warrants against Peterson in the separate child support cases this week, which are different from traditional arrest warrants requiring determination of enough evidence being found to suspect a crime was potentially committed.

The capias warrants are related to Peterson's reported failure to appear in court earlier this month.

โ€œTO ANY PEACE OFFICER OF THE STATE OF TEXAS---GREETING,โ€ one of the warrants states. โ€œYOU ARE HEREBY COMMANDED TO ARREST: ADRIAN LEWIS PETERSON, to be found in your county, and ADRIAN LEWIS PETERSON safely keep, so that you have ADRIAN LEWIS PETERSON before the Honorable 328th Judicial District Court of Fort Bend County, Texas, at the Court House of said Countyโ€ฆ and there to answer for their failure to appear for CIVIL NON-SUPPORT on December 05, 2024 before the 328TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT, as ordered.โ€

Peterson previously pleaded no contes to misdemeanor assault in the same county in October in relation to allegations that he slapped a woman from behind in May, which resulted in a $500 fine but no jail time, according to court records.

The 15-year-veteran, ranks fifth all-time in career rushing yards with 14,918. Peterson was selected No. 7 overall by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2007 NFL Draft and spent his first 10 seasons with the franchise, which included bouncing back from a torn ACL to break the 2,000-yard rushing plateau and win the Associated Press Most Valuable Player award in 2012.

The former Oklahoma University standout also had since had stints with several other NFL teams including the New Orleans Saints (2017), Arizona Cardinals (2017), the now-Washington Commanders (2018-19), Detroit Lions (2020), Tennessee Titans (2021) and Seattle Seahawks (2021).
