Britney Spears is reportedly worried about how her recent arrest will impact her sons.

A source close to the "Toxic" singer told People that Spears is concerned over the affect her legal issues will have on her two sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline. She was arrested Wednesday (March 4) night on suspicion of driving under the influence.

"She's very emotional and regretful this morning. She's also embarrassed because of how it could affect her sons," the source said. "She loves them very much and never wants them to feel like she's letting them down."

TMZ was the first to report that Spears was arrested for DUI by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and taken to a hospital to have blood drawn to determine her blood alcohol content. The CHP confirmed the singer was "driving erratically at a high rate of speed [and] showed signs of impairment and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests," per People. According to inmate records with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, Spears was booked around 3 a.m. on Thursday and released three hours later.

Following her arrest, Spears' manager Cade Hudson shared a statement addressing the "inexcusable" incident.

"This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable," the statement read. "Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time."

Hudson added that her sons "are going to be spending time with her" and that her "loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being."
