Exotic and Dillon tied the knot December 2017, then announced their split March 2021 amidst Joe Exotic serving his prison sentence. While the split was announced over a year ago, neither had taken steps to obtain a legal divorce. In November of the same year, Maldonado-Passage was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of prostate cancer and was transferred to a North Carolina Medical Center for treatment. Now that Joe Maldonado-Passage is nearing the end of his cancer treatment, he claims that eh has fallen in love and wishes to obtain a divorce so that he can remarry. Joe has filed stating that their marriage is "irretrievable broken" and is requesting to have "Passage" legally removed from his last name and alimony from Dillon Passage.
