'The Simpson's' Composer Says the Show Could Be Coming to an End Soon

One of the longest running TV shows that everyone's come to love could be coming to an end, and it could even be sooner than we think.

According to The Simpsons musical composer Danny Elfman in a recent interview, the word around the water cooler is that this could potentially be the last year it's on air.

“From what I’ve heard, it is coming to an end…I don’t know for a fact, but I’ve heard that it will be in its last year,” Elfman told the website Joe.ie. He says the show will end in about two years and there'll be one more season. Right now, The Simpsons are in their 31st season, and will be going on air for their record-setting 32nd season in around 2020. Fox hasn't commented on it just yet, but this is HUGE.

As of December 17th, The Simpsons will have been on air for a mind-boggling 30 years, and is the longest running animated series, longest running sitcom, and longest running prime-time series. There are an even crazier 670 EPISODES. I don't think I've even seen that many episodes of every TV show I've ever seen! Okay, maybe I have, but I'm just a TV junkie.

Elfman himself is surprised the show has gone on this long, but that the show getting picked up and going on for the last 30 years is "one of the truly big surprises in my life."

Whether you've watched the show or not, you have to give major props that this show has been running for as long as it has and captured the heart of Americans. If it is in fact their last year, you know I'll be watching!
