Lizzo Treats UW Medical Center Staff To Free Lunch Amid COVID-19 Crisis

Lizzo is making sure medical staff are well fed amid the fight against the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Earlier this week, the “Tempo” singer expressed her gratitude to the healthcare workers of the University of Washington Medical Center striving to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus by treating the Montlake ER staff to free lunch.

The “Truth Hurts” vocalist even sent a personal video to say thank you to the medical staff for all the hard work they’ve been putting in to help bring an end to the virus.

"Shout-out to all of y'all for being so brave and working so hard, and making sure that we're safe and healthy and healing people," Lizzo says in the clip. "That is incredible. You guys are heroes. And so the least I could do was send you some lunch. I hope you guys enjoy the food; I hope it puts a smile on your face; and I hope that you feel loved and appreciated because you really, truly are."

According to Seattle Times, Lizzo’s publicist confirmed the superstar had sent food to several hospitals, including a University of Minnesota affiliate in Minneapolis, where the musician launched her career. Her publicist adds that Lizzo bought food for hospitals “that were hit really hard for staff working around the clock.”

As of Wednesday morning (April 1), Washington has more than 5,400 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 225 deaths related to the virus.
