Liam Payne's family broke their silence on new developments in their deceased loved one's ongoing manslaughter case in a statement shared with the BBC on Sunday (March 2).

Word from the late singer's family arrives less than two weeks after the court decided to drop charges of three individuals arrested in connection to the "Strip That Down" hitmaker's tragic passing.

"Liam's death was an unspeakable tragedy. This is a time of tremendous grief and pain for those who knew and loved him. Liam ought to have had a long life ahead of him. Instead, Bear has lost his father, Geoff and Karen have lost their son, Ruth and Nicola have lost their brother, and all of Liam's friends and fans have lost someone they held very dear," the statement read.

Just last month, Liam's friend Roger Nores and hotel employees Gilda Martin and Esteban Grassi, who all encountered Liam moments before he fell to his death at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last October, were cleared of charges after the court ruled that there was "nothing the trio could have done to save Liam."

Drug dealers Ezequiel Pereyra and Braian Paiz remain behind bars as they await trial.

Payne was laid to rest during an intimate funeral service in November 2024, and all four of his former One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson were attendance. He is survived by his 7-year-old son Bear, his parents Geoff and Karen, and his sisters Nicola and Ruth.
