AJR's Adam Met Turns Up The Volume On Social Advocacy With New Book

AJR's Adam Met is taking a stand and showing everyone how they can do the same in his new book AMPLIFY: How to Use the Power of Connection to Engage, Take Action, and Build A Better World.

The book (released on June 3rd) published by Harmony Books, a division of Penguin Random House, aims to provide a blueprint for boosting activism using fan-building tactics from the music industry. It features insights from prominent figures like Congressman Maxwell Frost, who wrote the foreword, and interviews with notable change-makers such as Andrew Yang and Bill Nye.

AMPLIFY provides strategies for engaging supporters and building movements for causes such as climate action, global health, and LGBTQIA+ rights. Met's experience with AJR, a band that started in a family living room and now sells out arenas, informs the book's approach to advocacy.

In a statement to iHeartRadio, Met explained of his new book, "Music is the ultimate connector. Of course the lyrics and melodies… but its ability to bring people in person is unmatched. Imagine if we could use those strategies to make real change in the world. That's what this book is all about: taking the fan building tactics and using them to solve some of the world’s biggest problems. It’s a guide book to help people find their role in making the world a better place for all of us."

Met, who holds a Ph.D. in human rights and sustainable development, is the founder of Planet Reimagined, a nonprofit focused on climate advocacy. He also teaches climate policy at Columbia University. He was recently honored with the TIME Earth Award for his contributions to climate justice and activism, joining figures like Jane Fonda and John Kerry.
