Tropical Storm Nicole Moving Across FL Peninsula

Tropical Storm Nicole coming ashore south of Vero Beach as a Category One hurricane early this morning ... Nicole has since been downgraded.

Top winds are 60 miles an hour as it moves west northwest across the Florida peninsula at 14 miles an hour.

On the forecast track, the center of Nicole will move across central Florida this morning, possibly emerge over the far northeastern Gulf of Mexico this afternoon, and then moving across the Florida Panhandle and Georgia tonight and on Friday.

The Tropical Storm Warning has been discontinued for the Florida east coast south of Jupiter.

Nicole remains a large tropical storm. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 450 miles (720 km) from the center, especially to the north.

More than 71-thousand customers are without power in Brevard County. Indian River and Volusia counties dealing with power issues as well.
