Among the $2.7-billion tax relief package the Governor signed into law yesterday are two, two-week Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holidays.

It includes most batteries, flashlights, tarps, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Also included are some pet supplies including leashes, collars, pads, carriers and food.

"The best thing that you can do to make sure you're storm ready is to make sure you're prepared," says Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kevin Cabrera, who also reminds everyone that the Home Hardening Sales Tax Exemption is also underway. From now through next June, you won't pay sales tax on impact resistant windows, doors and garage doors.
